It is known as “the child birth” of the global movement for woman’s advancement; and the universal thrust to attain development. It seeks to narrow and, ultimately, to erase gender gap and attain gender equality. It is also a perspective and an approach / process. GAD as a development perspective recognizes the unequal status and situation of women and men in society. Such inequalities has been perpetuated and even institutionalized by cultural, social economic and political norms, systems and stuctures. As a process, it seeks to equalize the status and condition between women and men by influencing the processes and outputs of policymaking, budgeting, implementing, and monitoring and evaluation so that they would deliberately address the gender issues and concerns affecting the full and equal development of woman and men.
